Endometriosis Surgery Brisbane & Gold Coast
What is endometriosis surgery?
The majority of endometriosis surgery will be performed by a gynaecologist with expertise in advanced laparoscopy. The laparoscopic procedure may involve dye test to ensure patency of the fallopian tubes, ablating nodules, removing endometriotic cysts from the ovary and excision of endometrial deposits around the uterus and pelvic cavity.
In patients with Stage 4 Severe Endometriosis where large chocolate cysts, deep infiltrating implants and severe adhesions are present, the rectum often is found to be deeply adherent to the posterior aspect of the uterus leading to obliteration of the Pouch of Douglas. In this instance, Dr Terence Chua specialises in treating this group of patients with endometriosis in collaboration with a gynaecologist.
